Tejal Keyur Textiles is a brand by Tejal Keyur that crafts beautiful bags and other accessories like baskets using upcycled discarded textiles. The idea behind the brand was a result of Tejal noticing the amount of textile landfills.
The process;
- The discarded sarees are sourced from unorganised local sectors such as the Sunday Bazaar where a local community of women sells the discards collected from door to door.
- Each carefully curated fabric is checked for damage and stains and is cleaned and dried before upcycling.
- From mood board, designers explore their colours, fabrics, textures, etc
Besides handbags and clutches, Tejal makes a lot of decor objects such as baskets, organisers, indoor pot covers and floor rugs out of discarded sarees.
Their future plans are to expand the artisan team and explore other textile techniques with new approaches, more textile waste, and new designs.
